Preserving Our History Through Photographs
We are so fortunate. We have the technology that allows us immediate gratification. We experience something; we share it on social media; our friends and family see it within the hour and share in our delight, giggles, astonishment, frustration, sadness, etc. It is such a wonderful thing that we have that option. Trust me… I know! Although not near in distance, I am extremely close to my family. I so wish that I could just pop over to see my parents or my siblings and their families whenever I want. The fact that we can take and share thoughts and pictures with each other almost instantaneously, makes me feel just a little closer to home and to them.
While I am so grateful for the level of connection this technology affords us, our reliance on it worries me just a tad when it comes to preserving our history. I LOVE flipping through my parents’ old pictures and talking to them about the stories that led us to the moments I see in those images. It just simply puts a smile on my face. You may say, “well, we can do the same thing with digital images.” Well… sure… but does it elicit the same feelings in you? Maybe it does for you and that’s okay if that’s your answer. I encourage you though, that if it is your answer, make sure you are diligent about backing up your images to HELP avoid the real possibility of loss or file corruption.
But, for me, I need something tangible. Something I know will last for my kids to enjoy. I look forward to the times when I sit down with Reese and Avery over the years and give them a way to continue to remember where they came from. I want them to always remember the fun we have as a family and the love that we have always shared with each other.
And, I want that for you too. I don’t know if you guys saw my new albums, but check out the process here for more information on how to fully customize your own from your SLP session. I recently designed one to showcase my portfolio and was jumping for joy when I got this box!
My vendors are the absolute best! From the packaging to the final product I am always so blown away by the beauty and quality of the products!
The cover is linen and is available in several different colors as you can see here. Of course, I had my business name debossed on my portfolio album, but I envision family albums having “The Lanier Family” on one line and the year on the next. You could build a collection over the years!
I design each of these albums specific to your family and your session. Each one is unique and includes all of the images from your session. Here are a couple of 2-page spreads that I designed for my portfolio album…
And, these pages are thick! We want these to last, right?
Because I know how important it is to have the ability to preserve AND share your images with friends and family, I offer a share-able slideshow of all your final session images with a Collection or minimum a la carte purchase. If you have any questions or if you are ready to book your 2014 session and get started building your own family album collection, please contact me!
