It’s hard. There is so much anticipation and maybe a LITTLE bit of anxiety that you have before your family’s portrait sessions each year… especially when you have young ones. You’ve invested in a professional photographer; you’ve found the perfect attire; you plan the day around making sure that this particular hour is perfection.
But, there’s one thing that I’ve learned over my years of being a child and family portrait photographer… and a mom. It’s not about your little ones ACTING perfect, it’s about them being who they are. That’s what we want to remember as parents right? And, THAT is what makes an image perfect to you. Shouldn’t we take that as a reminder that them being who they are and being happy in that place, is not only what we want on picture day, but everyday.
I don’t do a lot of formal posing. I find the perfect location in the perfect light and use that space to talk to them… interact with them… make them feel comfortable enough to be themselves in front of my lens. It’s my favorite part of what I do and I’m so grateful that you all trust me to capture your sweet littles year after year. <3 <3 <3
Now to some of my favorite people in the most magical of spots…
