Charlotte Photography Summer Camp

The details are set!  Please join us for SLP’s first summer camp, which will take place at 9:30 three consecutive Mondays beginning July 21st and will last for 2 hours each. Class size is limited to 10 so that I can give all the children the attention they deserve.  The camp will be geared toward be middle school-aged kids.

I debated whether to do one longer class, a series of classes on consecutive days, or spread them out a bit.  I decided to spread them out over a few weeks because I really wanted to give the kids a chance to take the basics that they learn in the first class and have some time to apply it.  So, here’s what your child can expect….

Pre-work

I will be asking your child to take a picture of something that interests him/her and write a short story about their image (1/2 page or so).  I will send specifics to all those who register at least one week prior to the first class

Week 1

We will start by sharing the pre-work images and stories.  Then, we will move into talking about composition rules of thumb and lighting basics.  All the while discussing how to better tell their story through their images.  I would then give them a few basic image assignments to complete before the next week’s class.

Week 2

Share image assignments with each other having them explain to the group the choices that they made based on the previous week’s instruction when creating their images.  Then pick their favorites for the coffee table book.

Week 3

End of camp party and book signing!  This one will be optional and will mainly be for those that decide to get the coffee table book with the class’s images.  I will provide drinks and snacks.

After the class

I will be creating a forum that will allow those who have continued interest to communicate with each other and me, share images, etc.  I will likely continue to provide challenges for the kids to help them grow.  This is all included in the cost of the course.
